Born and raised in Kelowna, B.C., Kyle McMurphy grew up playing golf at Shannon Lake Golf Course, falling in love with the game by age 11. He began competing at 12 and has enjoyed tournament golf ever since. Kyle also played minor hockey in West Kelowna, later competing in the BCHL with Williams Lake and the Penticton Vees.
Kyle is a PGA of Canada Class "A" Professional who has specialized in junior instruction for 11 years, with several students earning college scholarships. His competitive achievements include three professional wins, tying the Shannon Lake course record at age 17, and finishing runner-up in the Interior PGA Tour Order of Merit in 2024.
