The Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL) has granted approval for RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna to operate a second Female U18 Prep Team for the 2026-27 season, following recent approval from BC Hockey.
This expansion solidifies RHA Kelowna's position as a leader in female hockey development, bringing total female program capacity to approximately 40 athletes in grades 9-12. The second Female U18 Prep team will compete in the CSSHL Female U18 Prep division, mirroring the structure of the academy's successful male program.

"CSSHL approval is the final piece needed to launch our second female team," said Ryan Cyr, Executive of RINK Hockey Corp. "This allows us to provide more young women the opportunity to develop within our proven model while maintaining the high standards that have defined our program."
Since launching its female program in 2008-09, RHA Kelowna has established a legacy of excellence both on and off the ice. The program has secured four consecutive league championships, with 100% of last year's graduating class earning scholarships to NCAA Division I or U SPORTS programs. Multiple athletes have represented Canada on the U18 Women's National Team in recent seasons.

"League approval confirms what we already knew: there's demand for more pathways in female hockey," said Maco Balkovec, Executive Director of RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna. "This gives athletes the chance to commit long-term, develop at their own pace, and graduate from our program without being forced to move elsewhere to advance."
The academy is currently recruiting Female U18 student-athletes for the 2026-27 season and will be hiring two additional full-time coaches (a Head Coach and Assistant Coach) to support the expanded program. Roster spots are limited.
