Kelowna, BC – The RINK Hockey Academy Kelowna continues to establish itself as one of Western Canada’s premier hockey development programs after seeing six of its student-athletes selected in the 2025 WHL Prospects Draft.
Spread across four different WHL clubs, these selections speak volumes about the depth and talent being cultivated at RINK Kelowna. From goaltenders to defensemen to forwards, the program delivered impact players at every position.
Dylan Mingo – Moose Jaw Warriors – 41st Overall, 2nd Round
Dylan Mingo was the first Kelowna athlete off the board. The steady and competitive goaltender turned heads all season with his ability to handle pressure and deliver key saves in crucial moments.
“Dylan is a competitor in every sense of the word,” said RINK Kelowna Head Coach Locke Muller. “He gives his team a chance to win every night. His calm confidence in net sets him apart. Moose Jaw is getting a difference-maker in goal.”
Channon Fummerton – Kelowna Rockets – 95th Overall, 5th Round
Channon Fummerton’s puck-moving ability and defensive reliability earned him a hometown selection by the Kelowna Rockets. A smooth-skating defenseman with excellent poise, Fummerton proved to be one of the most trusted players on the RINK blue line.
“Channon plays with poise and control,” said Muller. “He defends hard, moves the puck well, and has a great feel for the game. There is no better place for him to take the next step than right here in Kelowna.”
Deacon Gayfer – Tri-City Americans – 147th Overall, 7th Round
Deacon Gayfer’s work ethic and 200-foot game made him a strong choice for the Tri-City Americans. Known for his commitment to doing the little things right, Gayfer played an important role in all situations this season.
“Deacon is a coach’s dream,” said Muller. “He competes every shift, does the right things without the puck, and makes his teammates better. Tri-City is getting a player who shows up and works for the team.”
Bronson Lamontagne – Kelowna Rockets – 149th Overall, 7th Round
The Rockets doubled down on local talent with the selection of Bronson Lamontagne. A hard-nosed forward who plays with an edge, Lamontagne brought physicality and energy to every game.
“Bronson is tough to play against,” Muller said. “He battles, he finishes checks, and he competes with grit. He is the type of player who brings fans out of their seats in Kelowna.”
Alexander Sharman – Saskatoon Blades – 199th Overall, 9th Round
Alexander Sharman earned his opportunity with the Saskatoon Blades after developing into one of the most reliable forward in the program. His calm presence under pressure and ability to make simple, smart plays stood out.
“Alexander understands the game at a high level,” Muller noted. “His brain and vision are what set him apart. His ability to find teammates through traffic and make plays that others can’t see. Saskatoon is getting a hidden gem.”
Kaius Millan – Penticton Vees – 300th Overall, 14th Round
Rounding out the RINK Kelowna class was the selection of forward Kaius Millan by the Penticton Vees. Known for his speed and relentless motor, Millan consistently provided energy and pace to the lineup.
“Kaius plays with speed and energy that is contagious,” Muller said. “He puts pressure on opponents and brings pace to every shift. He makes things happen with his effort alone.”
These six players represent the hard work and dedication that RINK Kelowna demands from its athletes. Their selections are a testament to their character, commitment, and ability to perform at the highest levels.
